On a Weekly Basis

-sigh-

In approximately three weeks, I will complete my final examination and have finished a year of university (college for you Americans). Now this marks something I think, I’m eighteen now and probably have by this stage done about thirteen-fourteen years of education straight. I’m starting to see the end of the tunnel and at the same time am incredibly tired of it all. I’m definitely going to finish my degree; in our modern globalised world a university degree has become superbly valuable in many many career paths.

However, my question is when, how and where. I have a few choices, all valuable choices in my eyes but I totally can’t choose and I need your help to choose for me and help my poor ol’ dilemma. Are you excited and ready to direct my life in YOUR direction? Eh eh? ALRIGHT! LETS DOOO THISl. IM PUMPED! YOUR PUMPED LETS ROOOOOCK.

….

Anyway =D

Option 1: Stick at the USC and power through my degree and cram 1.5 years in one year of study and walk away with like… a Bachelor of Management and Strategy. This, however, requires 2 subjects over summer (no break D=), a full load over the year and two again over summer. This allows me to graduate in April 2010. At 19, fully qualified with a degree and ready to change the world… well that makes me a cool cookie.

Option 2: Spread out the last few courses over two years and spend a crap load of time at Woolworths pounding out hours, getting paid lots and going up through the ranks like butter through heated butter! If I do Uni part time for the next year and stick with Woolies I should get into their management program and get into a management role fairly quickly (shortage of managers makes me attractive). That would at 20 make a Store Trading Manager and have a degree, that’s rock solid management experience and a degree – this could also make me a very cool cookie.

Option 3: Damn it all to hell! Im moving to Brisbane, I hate you all! HERE WOOLWORTHS! TAKE MY TRANSFER REQUEST AND GET ME A JOB IN BRISSY. Woot! Woot! Yeah… my third option is to go to Brissy finish my degree at UQ while chilling with my Brocousin and crusing and stuff. Having fun, chasing ladies at all corners of the afore mentioned Uni. Could be totally cool. That would at 20 make me a cool cookie with a degree and independence.

Option 4: Take a bloody year off and come back to my life in 2010.

So pretty much, all these options are cool with me. They all have their benefits and downfalls, which, I am keeping in mind. However, emotion clouds my head, so like this is totally like your problem now, reader. Yeah you! Talking to you! So like vote and lemme know what YOU Think. In two weeks I’ll let everyone know off all the results I got.

Im waaiting for yooouuooo!

We’ve all at one or another stage felt pretty stuck, stuck in routine, boredom in predictable events that feel like déjà vu just because you did the exact same thing yesterday. Me for example, well I fill shelves, I fill the same shelves every day. I can also almost predict the order things happen in on any given day, which makes my work repetitive. In sense this is also good, with such mindless work I can focus my brain on other thinking processes, so I don’t spend so much time at home thinking without doing anything useful. Works also offers, cash, cash is very good for the poor student soul.

Anyway, sometimes you do get down and you want to get away from your responsibilities because they shit you. But you can’t, because after all they are your responsibilities and you have a duty to do them – as they make your life easier in most instances. Also in most instances they make the life of other people more favourable and if we like people we tend to create obligations toward them even when we don’t want to. Like rocking up to work for your manager, you get pay and he/she gets the job done and if you like them you would try to avoid ditching him/her in his/her lonesome.

Take me for example, the other Sunday I woke up in Brisbane. Now I live on the Sunshine Coast, which means my work is about one and a half hours away, I can manage to drive that – it’s totally cool. However, I kinda woke up or realised the night before I didn’t want to go, I just kinda wanted to throw my responsibilities in the face of the man and laugh and run away. I did in the end throw my responsibilities in the face of the man, and run away.

Now I had a fantastic day that day, chilled with friends, hung around while the ladies shopped and watched a movie in one of those insanely big cinemas. Totally successful day – I totalled loved the feeling of freedom and no responsibility as I haven’t felt it in six months or so. Off course blowing up your responsibilities in the man’s face, does have some consequences attached to it. When I got home at six that night, mother was angry, dad was amused and work was shocked. Mum was angry for ditching my responsibilities for fun, Dad was amused for the same very reason and work was shocked that I was sick. It was so cool.

However, this small insignificant taste of freedom and no responsibilities was extremely tempting and I now hunger to travel through Brisbane aimlessly and enjoy the freedom that comes with such a crazy proposition. Well its not that crazy, quite possible, but responsible? That’s another question. See, even when I’m considering doing something irresponsible, I have to try and justify it to be responsible because of my fear of the repercussions with the man. Either way, we will see how this joke plays out.

This post is more about frustration than anything else, naturally I’m going to have a go at Australian society like a good blogger with an attitude. To understand the reason behind the topic I’m about to reveal (anticipate here), let me share a little story!

STORY TIME

A long time ago there was this dude, this dude was riding back from Uni/College. As he takes a left he merges onto a highway kind of road. However, this is not a normal highway, his exist is on the fast lane and thus he has to (In Australia anyway) merge right. Now there is about 500 metres between the point where I have to go off and the point I enter, at the speed of 100 km/h it makes it very very hard. It was busy, I slowed down to about 80 km/h on the highway, there were lots of cars and I couldn’t get in – not very unusual, no big drama. Then it happened – an impatient douche behind me gets all angry speeds up to 150 km/h passes by me and merges back to hte left as soon as he is in front.

…exit 10 metres away.

%$#^#$

Now I HAD my indicator on, I WOULD have merged a second later. But that wasn’t cool, nope – couldn’t wait that long!

Yes ladies and gentlemen the story is about driving AND –

Mad Angry No-Good Idiotic Aggressive Cocks aka. MANIAC

I’ve noticed that especially on Australian roads, the tendency is to go fast. I mean, you’re not an Aussie driver unless you’re doing at least 10 km/h over the speed limit. It’s strange and confusing and very very annoying – I mean I understand people can be in a rush sometimes – but in a rush to the point of nearly driving other people of the road? It’s not a very nice place to be, Australian roads.

And it isn’t like this happened to me personally once, or twice – no it’s happened a few times and it’s becoming so outrageous that I’m to frustrated to just ignore it any longer. Kinda sad really :p For example, the other day I’m happily driving at 70 km/h in a 60 zone, being a good Aussie bloke. This guy behind me decides that even when I’m already clocking in at 10 km/h over the speed limit – it’s still too slow – he begins beeping his horn at me. This impatience worries me, it seems to degrade people’s abilities to care and use common sense.

Without our ability to care, feel sorrow and use good old common sense – we would in short term be totally totally screwed. Anger and panic would grip the streets and we would all panic and scream and stuff. So this week I ask you the question, what crazy angry people have you had to deal with in your life?

In light, of not having an issue burnign at my forehead I have decided that on this sunday night, this post is to be dedicated to my rather strange, albeit cool (in m own way) week and because of that, A SUMMARY Will ensue.

  • I spent lots of money on my computer ’set up’ - my room is a total mess so I need to clean it up desperately. But it all works well and good, sound and movies are great and its a great way to spend a sunday night. Lying on bed, head slightly titled as a watch a movie of some importance. Although Im not the sure the messy room was a good trade off…either way pictures WILL come, once I have cleaned up…
  • I have a few projects happening across many different interests, trying to finish them all up! However, work is getting increasingly demanding and I am getting increasingly more fed up with them… at some stage I do plan to do something about them… I am one man! And I do uni full time - Woolworths are bastards in their own special way.
  • Ive gotten fat and lazy and will have to hit weights tommorw Im kinda dreading seeing my groan and moan at the puniest effort… its going to be embarassing.
  • I have decided I hate work.
  • I have decided Chickens are funny to watch… even if stupid.
  • I need to cut some projects so I can get my other stuff done. Something for tommorow, no doubt.
  • I have a gig on the 23rd of Oct, down at the Grinning Dog in Maroochydore… feel free to rock up. 8.00pm should work well for oyu ugys.
  • I think I might make a post sometime this midweek, possibly, depending on how sunday is looking like.

All in all, its not been funny and rather uneventful… kind off - lots of thinking. This week should definetely gear up some interesting stories though. Ill let you know.

Peace.
